At the 2024 Tata Steel Chess Tournament, 18-year-old GM Praggnanandhaa defeated world champion GM Ding Liren, temporarily becoming the number one ranked Indian player and surpassing Viswanathan Anand on the live rating list.

While subsequent results brought him back to #2 in India, this achievement marks a significant milestone for the teenage chess superstar.
