India made history at the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Budapest, clinching gold medals in both the Open and Women's sections for the first time ever.

Key points:

• Open section: India won its first-ever gold, finishing 4 points clear of the USA, who took silver

• Women's section: India also secured their first-ever gold medal

• India's dominance was achieved without two of their most legendary players:

  • Viswanathan Anand (absent from Open team)

  • Koneru Humpy (absent from Women's team)

• Gukesh D: World Championship Challenger, won individual gold on board one and finished with a performance rating of above 3,000!

🏆 Chess Awards Highlights:

The FIDE 100 Gala in Budapest celebrated chess excellence with awards in various categories. Here are some highlights:

• Magnus Carlsen:

  • Received the FIDE Greatest Of All Time (G.O.A.T) award

  • Humbly suggested Garry Kasparov was more deserving
